Re: Week 3: Beast King Barbaros
Welcome to Week 3. This week's theme Effect Monsters and in this day and age I had plenty to pick from but decided to go with one close to my Heart. "My King" aka Beast King Barbaros.
As with the Magic Cylinder this to has a story behind it. It's the last card I got via my Monthly Shonen Jump order back in 2009.
Fun Facts-
1. It's first English release was in the Shonen Jump - June 2009 - Volume 7, Issue 6 as a Promo card
2. Aside from calling it "My King" I also think of the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist quote "Be Thou for the People"(The State Alchemist motto)
3. The reason for relating it to said quote is the number of ways he can be summoned. 1. No tribute 1900 atk, 2 tribute 3000 atk no effect and finally 3 tributes 3000 atk with the effect- You can Tribute 3 monsters to Tribute Summon this card. If you do: Destroy all cards your opponent controls.
4. There is however 1 more common way it's summoned now a days(and personally I dislike it) playing it from hand while the Skill Drain Trap is face up on the field to make it an automatic 3000 atk instead of 1900 with no tribute

Re: Week 3: Beast King Barbaros
He's also a Level 8 monster, so he works great with Rank 8 Xyz decks and Trade-In.
