Re: Week 17: Stardust Dragon
Welcome to Week 17 where we continue our Spot Light of the many series of Yu-Gi-Oh and it's Main characters this week Yusei with this week's theme Synchro Monsters- Stardust Dragon.
Fun Facts-
1. The effect of "Stardust Dragon" can be activated in response to the activation of "Gemini Spark".
2. You can chain "Stardust Dragon"'s effect to the effect of a Continuous Spell or Trap with a chainable effect that destroys cards, such as "Skull Lair.
3. You cannot chain "Stardust Dragon"'s effect to effects like "Barrel Dragon", "Blowback Dragon", "Blind Destruction", "Sand Gambler", "Dangerous Machine Type-6", "Snipe Hunter", "Gambler of Legend", etc, since it is not known if they will destroy a card or not, depending upon the coin toss or the die's result. In addition, for an effect like "Time Wizard" which is certain that it will destroy a monster on the field regardless of the coin toss's, ect, result, "Stardust Dragon" can be chained. Furthermore, for an effect like "Crush Card Virus", "Deck Devastation Virus", ect, when a face-up monster would be destroyed, you can chain "Stardust Dragon" effect. If the only monsters on the field are face-down monsters, since it is unsure if they will be destroyed by "Crush Card Virus"'s, "Deck Devastation Virus"'s, ect effect, you cannot chain "Stardust Dragon" effect.
4. Counter Trap Cards are Spell Speed 3, so you cannot activate the Spell Speed 2 effect of "Stardust Dragon" in Chain to the effect of a Counter Trap Card like "Magic Jammer", "Seven Tools of the Bandit", or "Divine Wrath".
5. This card works well with "Wave-Motion Cannon", since it can prevent it from being destroyed, thus giving you a better chance of it surviving 8 turns.
6. You can use "Dragon's Rage" to almost ensure that you can deal damage each turn without hesitating to attack because of its revival effect.

Re: Week 17: Stardust Dragon
Ah, the old Stardust Dragon. He's seen a bit less play with the release of Stardust Spark Dragon. I'd like to touch on the difference between those two cards.
Stardust Spark Dragon: Spell Speed 2 effect that can prevent destruction by battle or card effect of a single card once that turn. Does not require a Chain to be used. Stardust Spark stays on the field after use.
Stardust Dragon: Spell Speed 2 effect that prevents the destruction of a card by card effect only. Requires a Chain to be used. Leaves the field afterwards, then returns in the End Phase.
Spark is clearly better if you are worried about death by battle, Counter Traps that you can somewhat predict (can't think of any off the top of my head), and you don't expect the opponent to be capable of destroying twice.
Stardust Dragon, on the other hand, is far more useful if you expect the opponent to have multiple destruction effects or cards that negate Monster Effects on the field, such as Skill Drain. If the opponent has multiple destruction effects, you can simply chain Stardust and revive at End Phase. If the opponent tries to chain Torrential Tribute to this summon, you can simply chain again. As for Skill Drain, it doesn't even affect Stardust because it Tributes itself AS A COST, and costs can't be negated.
Think on these things if you only have room for one of these monsters in your Extra Deck!
